Tarun Sharma is the Vice President of Virtusa’s Banking, Financial Services and Insurance Business Unit. In addition, Tarun is responsible for growing Virtusa’s BPM practice, providing thought leadership and overseeing all BPM implementations at Virtusa’s clients. Over a period of seven years, he has held many positions at Virtusa, including Chief Software Architect and head of Productization.
Prior to Virtusa, Tarun was co founder and chief eBusiness architect of EC Cubed, where he worked closely with customers to strategically define, architect and launch their digital businesses. He has architected several large platforms, including GE GXS e-Marketplace formerly known as TPN Register, Mastercard’s Commercial Card Gateway and American Express’ @Work B2B Portal.
Tarun has been a leading author and proponent of software asset reuse, component-based development methodologies and inter-enterprise process engineering (BPM) for a significant portion of his career. He is the co-author of “Enterprise eCommerce” (Meghan-Kiffer Press) and “Programming Web Components” (McGraw-Hill). Tarun has presented several works on component-based methodologies and enterprise eCommerce at industry conferences such as SD 99, XML-One (Europe and US), and has his work published in industry journals and magazines like Software Development, Ziff Davis Publications, Siliconindia, and Montgomery Research.
