The evolution of genAI marked a significant milestone in the AI landscape. Initially, AI algorithms were predominantly focused on rule-based systems and supervised learning techniques. However, with the advent of generative adversarial networks (GANs) by Ian Goodfellow and his team in 2014, the paradigm shifted toward unsupervised learning and generative models. GANs introduced a new framework where two neural networks, the generator, and discriminator, engage in a competitive process to generate increasingly realistic data. This breakthrough paved the way for the development of diverse genAI applications, ranging from image synthesis to natural language processing (NLP).

Furthermore, the emergence of transformer-based architectures, exemplified by OpenAI's Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) series, revolutionized language generation tasks. These models, trained on vast amounts of text data, possess remarkable capabilities in generating humanlike text, driving advancements in conversational AI, and content generation, such as text, images, videos, and even code.
